Patterns
Patterns

Most humans have no free will beyond the most mundane. Their lives are determined by things over which they have no control. Even the most basic choices made daily are done out of instinctive and unconscious drives. The supremacy of determinism it seems is virtually total.
Perhaps this is about patterns. Life everywhere seems to conform to patterns. Scientific observation is entirely taken up with their identifying. Once one is in play things seem to fall in predetermined ways like a computer programme with its self consistent set of variables and parameters.
If free will exists at all it may just be for the few. They would be the ones who change the patterns, who alter the programme and make things go in a different direction. Once the change is made then the freedom disappears again to conform to the demands of the new programme.
How is the power to make this change accessed and what is the nature of the force that informs it? Is it religious, spiritual, psychological? Is it material? Is it always conscious? Is it an inspirational thing? Is it related to ideas of God?
Questions. Questions.
