I think liberal democracy will spread throughout the world in the future. I think too there will be greater enforcement so that states that fall below a certain standard in their politics, human rights and so on, will be forced back in line. Perhaps it is this that will be the new world order. Just as systems of censure (legal apparatus, law enforcement) had to evolve within national boundaries, so the same will develop internationally.
Okay so that in itself is no great prediction. But something else: I think too that the bar might be raised within the nations states. The line below which behaviour is deemed to be unacceptable could well be pushed higher. This would demand a tougher ethical standard. Freedoms would be curtailed if the standards were not met. In this sense liberal societies would become less free and more coercive, although for those who upheld the values, freedoms greater than at any time in history would be enjoyed.
