Not So Magnanimous
Not So Magnanimous

I don’t particularly like a competitive ethos. I don’t get off on beating others and don’t have to be the winner. Actually I don’t much like being the winner. I do however like to know that I could win if I wanted to. That is important. With that knowledge I can be quite happy to let someone else take the points.
But then, maybe I used to feel that. I’m not so sure now. I’ve had so much rejection and defeat that the prospect of another person’s victory is likely not to go down so well as it might have done before. No, my remark is probably how I would have been but not, alas, how things have turned out.
