A Prevailing Wind
A Prevailing Wind

After years of struggle, much of it resulting in failed endeavour, I’m reluctant to push myself in any direction. I don’t seem able to access the kind of tenacity, the almost gritty determination I was able to access in younger days. I’m not even sure I want to access it even if I could.
These days I don’t incline to putting any effort into anything when there is not a prevailing wind. The difference between the effort made and the outcome when the circumstance is conducive is huge. When the circumstance works against you it’s like you’re carrying a ton of dead weight uphill. When the environment is on your side you can coast.
There’s little point in investing great effort for minimum return. Common sense tells you that. All you can do if the objective is crucial is wait for that prevailing wind and hope it is not too long in coming. You might have to be very patient indeed.
