Intellect And Emotion

Is the therapeutic community too quick to devalue intellect in favour of emotion? If so, it is understandable. The emotional life is much neglected and needs serious appraisal. But the intellect’s contribution to that should not be downplayed. It is an important part of the process.
The intellect can have big import into how one feels. It obviously plays a role in shaping a philosophy and a philosophy of life has a strong bearing on belief and belief feeds directly into the emotions. So in trying to advance the cause of emotional intelligence it should be remembered the essential role played by sound intellect.
