Things I Fear
Things I Fear
Sunday, 8 August 2004
•Fear of the inorganic because of its mere presence, its simply being there, remote and uncaring.
•Fear of the organic because of its sheer biology, its mindless drive toward its own end regardless of the sensitivities of souls.
•Fear of the social, fear of being forced into conformity that doesn’t accord with one’s sense of value or personal aspiration, fear of having to fraternise with people one doesn’t like.
•Fear of the intellectual for its being cold and clinical, its desire for infinite analysis however oblique that may be to the human spirit.
•Fear of the emotional life and its unrelenting baseness, its constantly reducing itself to something fallen.
•Fear of the religious realm because it isn’t true.
