Alleviators
Alleviators

I don't have faith in faith anymore. I don't believe in belief. I don’t think either of these, faith and belief, are necessarily the good things they are supposed to be. They can certainly be helpful but I think they are largely antidotes for the deficiencies that have come about from the trials of life. They are alleviators.
A better solution would be to develop some insight into these deficiencies and to address the resulting issues. Then there would be less need to encourage the elaborate mythologies that exist around systems of faith and belief. They could be replaced by knowledge - not absolute knowledge, just sufficient knowledge which has a direct bearing on lives lived, specifically protecting humans from the deficits that have been hitherto so prevalent.
