Classic Cover
I suppose we were thinking Allison Krauss when wondering where to go with Simone. Hence the old Motown song done acoustic, more white than black I guess. As ever, our effort never saw the light of day and stayed on the shelf unlike Krauss's version of “Baby, Now That I've Found You” which was a huge hit and set her up. That's what everyone is trying to do in my business - get set up, grab some attention and then live off it. Virtually no one succeeds.
Never mind, I'm ok with what we did here. It gets interesting at around 2.00 when Simone takes to the fiddle and improvises around the semi-tones. The almost Eastern harmonic leanings of the song come out then. "Who would have thought" somebody said at the time.
