The Voice
In 1974 there wasn’t as much talent around as there is now. And where you might have found an accomplished player or two, good singers were a rarer beast. So when I walked into a bar in town and heard a young guy with a huge voice it was an event.
The voice was Billy Bryan. Although our paths crossed occasionally down the years it’s only recently, some thirty five years on, we’ve got to doing original work. During the sessions we recorded Zeppelin’s Rock & Roll for fun. Robert Plant’s greatness is undisputed but I think he would be challenged these days to match Billy’s performance here.
