Free-form
Of all the different types of music I've made, I’d probably choose the free-form material as favourite. I like it because it best expresses how I am. It is restless and awkward to the point of arhythmic and yet when it comes together it does so with a strong sense of direction and identity.
The Leviathan piece embodies these facets as it shifts from dark and menacing to light and easy. It is part of a suite titled “Casuals” available on Legacy here and here.
The three guys who joined me for these impromptu sessions in my opinion never played better. The freedom and lack of structure seemed to bring out the best in all of us.
