When it's beautiful Scotland is beautiful indeed. And that’s not just its natural endowment. Edinburgh is one of the most visually impressive cities in the world. I can still feel exalted walking its streets, steeped in myth and history as they are.

It was film-maker Ian Roy's idea that we might put music and movies together and try to capture Scotland at its magnificent best. While my part was relatively easy, done in the comfort of the studio, Ian put in the miles and the hours travelling around the country, sometimes having to sit a while patiently waiting for a scene to present itself. His instrument was the humble DV camera,  not quite good enough in his view, but to the uninitiated like me the results still looked pretty impressive.

We had hoped to do the thing for real one day with some funding in place but alas that never happened. No matter, just as often demos catch the essence that masters fail to do.

The Rainmaker films are titled after the music compositions which are available on Legacy Scotland here and here.
