POIGNANT
I contributed the music to Toby Curnow’s short film. Seeing it again after a long time I was struck by how poignant a little piece it is. It captures a young woman on the phone to her mother, a birthday greeting, a mundane exchange, then she’s getting a bit annoyed, a bit too intense, finally tearful and apologetic. And a further twist at the end.
Toby managed to pack a fair bit of story and emotion into his five minutes which, as with a pop song, is no small achievement.
